A Compact Holodeck Built From Layered Light, Edge AI, and Body Locomotion
The MyAi 8x8 Immersive Edge Room combines a rear COB fine-pitch LED wall, a forward transparent LED plane, AR glasses, a KAT Walk C2+ treadmill, and a distributed Jetson edge AI cluster — creating strong volumetric depth without projectors.
A Volumetric Illusion System Without Projectors
The MyAi 8x8 Immersive Edge Room is a compact holodeck-inspired system for premium gaming, experiential simulation, and high-value productivity applications. The design combines a rear COB fine-pitch LED wall, a forward transparent LED glass plane spaced 2 to 4 feet in front, AR glasses for depth-of-field overlays and 3D characters, a KAT Walk C2+ locomotion interface, and a distributed Jetson edge AI control cluster.
The system creates strong volumetric depth cues without projectors while remaining commercially practical and scalable for conference rooms, executive suites, venues, and training environments.
Five Functional Elements in an 8x8 Enclosure
The design can be implemented in a minimal form using just the rear wall and front transparent plane, then expanded later to floor and ceiling surfaces — keeping the first build small enough to be practical while preserving a strong holodeck-like illusion.
01
Rear COB LED Wall
A high-luminance, high-contrast background plane using ultra-fine-pitch indoor COB panels for close viewing sharpness and low seam visibility.
02
Transparent Front Plane
A transparent LED film or glass plane mounted 2 to 4 feet in front of the rear wall — carrying foreground layers, floating UI, and partially transparent objects.
03
Optional Enclosure
Side, floor, and ceiling surfaces can be added later for full-enclosure effects, treated as secondary visual planes.
04
AR Glasses
Eye-tracked heads-up overlays, object labels, and 3D character renders at a perceived focal distance that complements the physical display stack.
05
Jetson Edge AI Cluster
Jetson Orin Nano nodes manage rendering, sensing, synchronization, and AI character behavior — locally, privately, offline-capable.

Depth From Layer Separation, Contrast, and Parallax
The COB wall supplies a high-luminance, high-contrast background plane. The transparent front plane appears to float in front of it because viewers see through portions of the display and perceive the physical gap between surfaces. Transparency, spacing, and background composition are the major determinants of visual quality.
AR glasses add another layer of depth realism — eye-tracked heads-up overlays, object labels, and character renders at a perceived focal distance that complements the physical display stack. The result is not a literal hologram, but a convincing volumetric illusion system that is far easier to deploy commercially.
Four Layered Planes
Each plane is engineered to keep latency low enough that the room feels responsive and spatially coherent — with distributed edge compute supporting local privacy, offline operation, and modular scaling.
Display Layer A — Rear COB Wall
Ultra-fine-pitch indoor COB LED panels
Conference-room-class viewing distances
High contrast, close viewing sharpness
Low seam visibility, stable color reproduction
Display Layer B — Transparent Front Plane
Transparent LED film or transparent LED glass
Mounted on optically clear plexiglass or low-iron acrylic
Carries foreground layers, floating UI, semi-transparent objects
Rear wall still functions as deep background
Compute Layer — Jetson Edge
Scene slicing and layer-specific frame generation
Object and person tracking
AR synchronization
Voice interaction and local AI character control
Low-latency, modular, offline-capable
Interaction Layer
AR glasses for depth-of-field and HUDs
KAT Walk C2+ treadmill for body locomotion
Camera arrays and microphone arrays
Optional depth sensors
Spatial audio loudspeakers or DSP
An 8x8 Footprint With Precision Spacing
8x8 footprint — compact for premium installations, large enough for body movement
Transparent plane placed 2–4 ft in front of the COB wall via rigid framing and precision spacers
Service access panels for panel replacement
Optical cleanliness and cable separation
Thermal management for sustained load
Safe user movement around the treadmill and display surfaces

Four Containerized Services
The scene graph lets the same object render differently on the rear wall, the front transparent plane, and the AR glasses. This is the core of the system's volumetric illusion.
01
Scene Orchestration
A unified scene graph that lets the same object render differently on the rear wall, the front transparent plane, and the AR glasses.
02
Edge Rendering
Jetson nodes generate layer-specific frames for each display surface in the stack.
03
Tracking & Occlusion
Camera and depth sensing drive real-time occlusion and spatial coherence.
04
Voice & Character Control
Local AI characters, voice interaction, and behavior modeling on the edge.
